This month's journey in our small- and micro-cap momentum portfolio delivered a familiar result: a modest pullback, with the portfolio down approximately 3%. For momentum investors, such corrections can signal opportunity, but only for the prepared. So let's break down the market's technical backdrop, celebrate our bright spots, examine key exits, and introduce the fresh picks we're adding with conviction.

Market Snapshot: Index Technicals

The $SPY ( ▼ 0.54% ) (tracking the S&P 500) and $IWC ( ▼ 1.31% ) (Russell Micro-cap) continue to exhibit mixed to neutral technical patterns as large-cap and micro-cap sectors digest recent market moves. The $IWM ( ▼ 0.77% ) (Russell 2000 small-cap ETF) is showing signs of improving technical momentum. The 20-day moving average has risen above the 50-day (a bullish crossover), and price is trading about 4.3% above the 50-day average. However, it still trades below its 250-day average and remains off its 52-week high by more than 14%, signaling ongoing volatility.
